Our history is rooted in original operating businesses that were started 35 and 80 years ago. We believe in a “buy and build” strategy, and we are long-term holders of businesses. Our family structure allows for much longer holding periods than traditional investment companies.

We target long-term investments in profitable and established enterprises with positive, high-functioning and committed management, and a sustainable competitive advantage. Our conservative approach to leverage protects our companies from structural distress. Our focus is on growth industries and geographies.

As a family business, we have a particular affinity for other family businesses. Nearly all of our transactions have been with passionate founders who wish to remain connected to the business but who also are seeking

the benefits of succession and estate planning; the comfort that the business and its employees will be taken care of into the future; and finally, the assurance that their legacy will be preserved. Correspondingly, the acquired companies then benefit from the longer time horizons and capital strength we provide while utilizing our extensive industry experience and structural support.

We are active, disciplined, and rigorous owners. However, we distinguish ourselves primarily as owners and investors—not managers—and we believe in independence and accountability. Operationally, we are collaborative in our style, working with current management and founders to ensure the best approach to maintaining the core strengths of the business and unlocking the potential for the future.
